Sarah's Bag designs handbags and accessories in Lebanon and sells them online and through other channels. Al Jawad Software House set up Odoo around what defines the business: accounts kept in US dollars and Lebanese pounds, and production done by subcontractors.
Where the work gets hard
Dollars and pounds together. Prices and books move between dollars and pounds, and the rate is not the same everywhere.
Production happens elsewhere. Each bag needs a recipe of materials and a subcontractor before an order can be placed.
What we implemented
Dollar and pound accounting
Every journal item stores both amounts. Each document takes its own rate, and a separate VAT rate applies to tax lines on dollar documents. The general ledger, partner ledger, trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet can be read in either currency, and a payment wizard follows the same rules.

Purchase requests that become subcontract orders
A request moves from draft to awaiting confirmation to confirmed. Odoo checks that each product has a subcontract recipe and a subcontractor, then creates a purchase order for each subcontractor. Deadline reminders appear on the request, the confirmers get a task when one is waiting, and requests can be imported from Excel.
Catalogue tools
Images load from a ZIP file, materials import from Excel, duplicates merge, and recipe components update in bulk.
Quick sale and online orders
Confirming an order can create the invoice and validate the delivery in one step. A sales report for a chosen period splits sales by payment method and channel, including cash on delivery.
How the work gets easier
| The usual way | With the new process |
|---|---|
| Amounts are converted by hand | Both currencies are stored on every entry |
| Subcontract orders are written one by one | A confirmed request creates them |
| Duplicates are cleaned manually | A wizard merges them |
The team spends less time converting and retyping, and more on the products.
